Happy Mother's Day!

I'm crazy! Full moon? Maybe! We had A LOT of snow last night. I drove home in freezing rain from dropping off the kids and getting my hoohaa waxed. Scary (the driving, not the waxing). I'm so over this weather. I need to live in a mild 70º year round place for a couple years. Anyway, this morning I had to shovel a shit ton of snow from my driveway thanks to the snow plows. I will say that it was nice fluffy snow and not ice laden snow. That was good. Anyway, I was really hot after shoveling for almost an hour and got the crazy idea to put on my swimming suit and take a picture. The funniest thing about the picture is that I did not intend to have that look on my face. Most of them were me smiling! I laughed so hard at this one. I had to share.

A lot of old high school people are finding me on facebook and it's a little weird. I didn't even talk to these people in high school! i guess the 20 year reunion is coming up so they are all signing up on there and adding me! I didn't graduate from that high school. I went to a different school my senior year. Blah. Hopefully they will take me off their list when they realize I'm still the same freak from high school.

I love these. It rained a lot on our full day in Chicago. Luckily I had my Holga in my bag. Rain can't hurt that thing!

I saw ghost peeps at the store this week. I couldn't find them last year. Hmmmm, fun!

...is for Ethan. He asked me if he could kiss a girl. How do you answer that?! He is only 11!

...is for Egg. I love eggs but I really need to learn how to cook them in a variety of ways. I usually scramble because I don't know what else to do.

...is for England. Also on my top places to see before I die. I have technically seen it since we stopped over at the airport on our way to Germany but I want to really be there. For a long time. I would love to travel to a country and live there for a year. I think that would be the best way to really experience a place.

...is for Eating. I can't stop lately.

...is for camera. I am sure you probably guessed this was coming. I love all cameras. Hasselblad, Leica, Holga, Canon, Lomo, etc. There are so many fun cameras out there.

...is for cooking. Even as a kid I loved to cook. I would really love to learn how to throw things together and make them taste good. Right now I have to follow a recipe.

...is for candy. I have a sugar problem. I am trying to limit my intake lately. I could easily wake up in the morning and eat brownies for breakfast.

...is for Chicago. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! On my birthday. We are all so excited about this. I am putting together a tentative schedule. Friday afternoon-Sears tower, Saturday - Navy Pier and Aquarium, Sunday - Millennium park before we get back on the train.

...is for balanced. There will always be a bit of yoga in here. It is becoming a huge force in my life.

...is for boys. I have a few awesome boys in my life. They are crazy and fun and teach me something new every day.




...is for beer. I have always had a taste for it. I prefer it over other drinks. When I was 23 and living in Lawrence I always had my night planned out perfectly. $1 PBR's at the Replay meant that I could skip dinner, drink about 5 beers and get a good buzz going, then go to Amigo's for crisp pinto burritos. A night out on less than $10! Now my tastes have improved and I go for micro brew or imports. Glad I can afford the good stuff!

...is for bacon. I can't help myself. I missed it so much the 11 YEARS of not eating pork. Welcome back mr. bacon

....Arlington my hometown. Some days I long for the simplicity of living there. I have great memories from growing up there.

I found a fabulous way to trim my bangs. Yes, I was growing them out and now they are short again. Here is how you do it....separate the bangs you want cut, twist them together in front of your face, holding it where you want to cut. Cut. They lay perfectly with longer edges. I'm shocked it worked. I read about it on a wiki. For the first time ever I cut my bangs right the first time and didn't have to go get them fixed.

I am going to work backwards through our weekend. I have pictures from almost everyday but they are on the mini downstairs. I'll have to share what I put up on flickr.

Today we took a short drive to this sculpture. It's right off I-80 close to Grinnell. It was huge and very cool. It was created by L. J. Maasdam in 1997. I bought the book "Iowa Curiosities" and this was our first adventure. I am sure we will have many many more this summer.

Saturday we went to a vineyard in Newton for live music. We met up with several people and our neighbor watched the boys. We needed a night to relax after spending several days with a house full of people.

The visit with our friends was smooth and easy. We had a really nice time. Friday we went to DSM to the big Art Festival. The kid stuff was awesome and now Silas wants a violin. We stopped on the way home to play pinball and video games at S's house. They have 4 pinball machines in their basement. I became seriously addicted to the fish one.



Thursday was music in the park. I also had a photo shoot with three teenage girls. They were such hipsters. We are doing it again this Friday which is a good thing because one of the girls was wearing a logo shirt and I didn't realize until later that I can't use that for stock. She also never gave me her model release and is now on her way back to florida.
